Spot on the horizon

In 2050, the provision of energy in Europe will be more sustainable and also more complex than it is now. This will call for direction, and the Netherlands is particularly well suited to take on this task. This is a proposition of the ‘Delft Plan: Nederland als Energy Gateway’ (Delft Plan: The Netherlands as an Energy Gateway), which was published earlier this year by the university’s Delft Energy Initiative. The plan outlines a spot on the horizon, a future in which the Netherlands has affordable, clean and reliable energy facilities and in which the Netherlands is a centre of European trade for energy, where flows of energy and raw materials enter and are processed, stored and traded.
